This was a project for a homeowner in Northwest Houston. We had a couple of extreme weather events within 3 weeks of each other. The first was a thunderstorm driven windsheer with nearly 100 mph gusts. There were two separate parts of the fence that failed. Both were original parts of the fence.
I put a temporary barrier up for the back, and used an existing intact panel to close off the front. I was in Italy for a couple of weeks on a planned vacation, so it sat untouched. The owner’s dog (a big critter) was able to take care of business and didn’t find a way out (a good short-term fix in my book).
When I got back, there were thousands of folks that still didn’t have their fences fixed (update: still a few that still haven’t been fixed a couple of months later). Fortunately, there were still enough building materials at the big box centers; I got a list together and made a run and ordered what I needed. I lucked out– they ran low/out of materials just a few days later…
The job was basically rebuilding a section of about 50 feet of fence, including fixing a BUNCH of posts that were rotten or not even cemented in. After the fence was completed, we had a hurricane come through Houston (Beryl)… New fence survived without any damage.
